This Land Rover Defender D200 is a nearly-new example of the superb reimagination of the marque’s iconic 4×4. Under the bonnet is a 2.0-litre inline-four diesel, producing 197bhp and 317lb-ft of torque, coupled to the eight-speed automatic transmission and a twin-speed transfer box. The odometer shows just 950 miles, and the car presents in as-new condition throughout.
The new Defender is a quantum leap ahead of the old model’s ‘rough and ready’ workhouse image. Benefiting from sophisticated off-road technology and clever design, the new Defender comes equipped with an array of safety and convenience features as standard. It boasts a wading depth of up to 900mm, and has 218mm of ground clearance in standard ride height, and with up to 291mm when off-road mode is engaged – meaning it remains a true ‘go anywhere’ vehicle.
This particular car left the factory finished in smart Tasman Blue metallic paintwork, with the optional Fuji White contrast roof, and with the 18-inch Gloss White steel wheels. It also features Satin Ceres Silver front and rear skid pans.
While this is the base specification model, it comes with an impressive equipment list as standard. This D200 rides on air suspension, and has both Terrain Response software and Hill Descent Control. There is Emergency Brake Assist, LED headlights, heated and power-folding door mirrors, and puddle lights.
Inside, the Defender comes with 8-way heated front seats as standard, upholstered in smart Ebony fabric, as well as a leather steering wheel and leather gear shifter. Other standard equipment includes dual-zone climate control, a 10-inch touchscreen, 3D surround-view camera package, 360-degree parking aid, cruise control, wade depth sensing, plus Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. As a nod to its reputation for utility work, the Defender also comes with durable rubber cabin mats and loadspace flooring.
This Defender was further enhanced by the optional Cold Climate Pack – including a heated windscreen, heated steering wheel, heated washer jets, and a headlight power wash function – as well as a removable tow bar, genuine Land Rover seats covers, wheel arch protection guards (not currently fitted), and the optional mudflaps.
Its bodywork and paint remain in as-new condition, with no dents or scuffs, and no blemishes in the Tasman Blue finish. The car has the standard Satin Ceres Silver grille bar and badging, and with its Gloss White steel wheels, it reflects a wonderful retro-inspired aesthetic. While the all-new model uses the latest technology, it still retains the trademark Defender design cues, such as the Alpine windows in the roof. All of the body trims are in great shape, and the steel wheels are unmarked.
Inside, the Ebony fabric seats are protected by genuine seat covers, and have been from new, so the material underneath remains pristine and unworn. The rest of the interior trim is in equally impressive condition, reflecting the very low mileage and considerate use. All of the switchgear works as it should, and there are of course no warning lights on the dashboard.
The Defender’s first annual service will fall due in December 2021, while it will not require an MOT test until December 2023. It remains in excellent mechanical order, with no faults or issues with any of the running gear.
This Land Rover Defender D200 is a superb example of the completely redesigned new model, which boasts a superb factory specification as standard, but also features some discerning options that are well-suited to the UK climate. Presented in as-new condition, this is a great opportunity to acquire a nearly-new example of a deeply impressive 4×4, which should prove to be a reliable and immensely versatile companion, on or off road.
